Gamingboy

Gamingboy,

I still remember the day we met. I was streaming some TMGL training, minding my own business when SRK popped up in my chat and said how there’s an Indonesian player that I needed to check out.

Sure enough, I added you on Ubisoft Connect and Discord, and we ended up communicating. I was happy that Trackmania 2020 was getting all the previously-unknown Indonesian players out of the woodwork, and I never thought that I’d communicate with another, real, Indonesian player.

We were planting the seeds of our little community, and I invited you to join the Trackmania Asia/OCE community that we were starting up. You were surprised that nobody had created an Asian community before, and you were glad to help me start it up, as well as growing the community.

Gamingboy,

Your skills were unmatched. Your consistency unrivaled. There’s a reason why you are always up there in the Indonesian, even Asian leaderboards. Your friends and rivals commend your skills, for a good reason. Whenever we team up, you always ended up carrying the rest of the team.

I still remember our most memorable match like it was yesterday. TSCC Summer 2021, Indonesia vs. Wales. The upstart country vs. one of the powerhouse countries in Trackmania.

It was a back-and-forth match, and since the score was 2-2, we’re up to map number 5: Summer 2021 - 17. I swapped in to replace Lvyathan, and I was not having the most consistent of rounds. I bonked everywhere. I thought that we’re about to lose.

But you kept consistently being in front of everyone. You literally carried the team, and helped relieve me and Kuda when we both bonked. Eventually we did managed to win, and you exclaimed “YES!” out loud when you realised that we had won.

I didn’t believe that we had won, but when the results are confirmed, we celebrated. We couldn’t believe it. We beat one one the best countries in Trackmania.

It was definitely the moment where everyone thought, “wow, these Indonesian players are no joke.”

Gamingboy,

I never got the chance to interact with you a lot more than we did. Being a reserved human being, and being constantly busy with IRL work and Trackmania community management, I never hopped on your VC sessions. But I did hear from our peers, that you’re always a positive influence to everyone.

You always welcomed new community members (literally and figuratively) You’re always humble, not shy to share your tips, tricks, and secrets. You never held any grudges, always friendly to everyone in the community. And most importantly, you’re a memelord.

I couldn’t thank you enough for your efforts in making the Trackmania Indonesia, and the Trackmania Asia/OCE community the welcoming community that it is.

Gamingboy,

Sadly, we will never see your potential in this new competitive format. Sadly, you will never see one of your favourite VTubers to play Trackmania. Sadly, you will never see one of your tracks become TOTD. But I will try, to the best of my ability, to fulfill your wishes, and make your legacy be remembered for years to come.

Rest in peace, Gamingboy. Enjoy your life upstairs.
